If you've been on Google the last few days you would have noticed some new additions to their search results pages. In particular the little up and down arrows and a comments box on their search results. This enables users to move search results up and down on the page to personalise their search engine results pages to their liking.

Local search will help to drive more targeted traffic to your website as local results typically appear when people append a geographical indicator to the end of a search query. Like 'thai restaurant sydney' for example.

Usually when you perform a search in Google, results will appear with a title, description or copy and a URL. Every now and then you’ll see a result with a number of other links below it – these are called Google Site Links.

On Friday I had the pleasure of attending a Google-run webinar about personalised search. Each year Google runs about 2-3 of these webinars and it gives some of the Google engineers an opportunity to talk about their area of expertise. It also provides an opportunity for webmasters and SEO's to ask questions directly to Google engineers.
